The Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago has announced a $20 million gift from the Sue Ling Gin Foundation Trust in support of student education and programming.

The gift is one of the largest single donations to the museum and the largest for its education department. In recognition, the museum’s Center for Education & Public Programs will be named after Gin, a former Field Museum trustee, real estate developer, and founder of the Chicago-based Flying Food Group, who died in 2014. The gift is part of a larger effort by the museum to raise $40 million in new support for field trips and educational programs that serve 400,000 students annually.

“This extraordinary demonstration of generosity from the Sue Ling Gin Foundation Trust will ensure that every Chicago child experiences the thrill of discovery with the Field Museum,” said FMNH president Julian Siggers.
