Fifth Third Foundation awards $23 million in 2021 grants
The Fifth Third Foundation in Cincinnati has announced grants totaling more than $23 million to nearly a hundred and forty organizations.
Grants were awarded to more than thirty-five organizations that collaborate with Fifth Third Bank’s community development and social responsibility department; more than fifty nonprofit programs that support homeownership, affordable housing, small business development, and financial stability for individuals and families; and more than forty groups that are affiliated with Fifth Third’s initiative to accelerate racial equity and inclusion.
Recipients include NeighborWorks America, which creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives, and strengthen their communities; Fifth Third and NeighborWorks network organizations have worked together to address the needs of local communities and families impacted by the pandemic by providing rental assistance, health resources, food distribution, and other critical services. In addition, the Fifth Third Foundation provided nearly $20 million to Fifth Third’s Neighborhood Investment Program, an initiative aimed at helping revitalize nine majority-Black communities in seven states that have suffered from disinvestment.
Another recipient, Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, will use its grant to support the club’s Keystone leadership program. “We’re grateful for the support from the Fifth Third Foundation,” said Karriem Edwards, the club’s vice president of development. “These dollars will help us provide much-needed services for the young adults who rely on our programs every day.”
