Flamboyan Arts Fund, Bloomberg to support Puerto Rican arts groups
Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Flamboyan Arts Fund have announced a partnership in support of arts and cultural organizations in Puerto Rico.
Launched in 2018 by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, his family, and producer Jeffrey Seller, in partnership with the Flamboyan Foundation, the fund is focused on preserving, sustaining, and amplifying the arts in Puerto Rico. Having raised $15 million from the wildly popular musical's run there in 2019, the fund will partner with Bloomberg Philanthropies' Arts Innovation Management (AIM) program to launch AIM Puerto Rico, an initiative aimed at providing nonprofit arts organizations on the island with bilingual arts management training and consulting in the areas of fundraising, strategic planning, and digital marketing, as well as resilience training designed to help them navigate future natural disasters.
The ten organizations selected to participate in the program are Andanza, Corporación de la Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño, Corporación del Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, Fundación Arturo Somohano, Fundación Puertorriqueña de las Humanidades, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico, Museo de Arte de Ponce, Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, Museo de Arte MUSA, and Museo de las Américas. In addition, other cultural organizations supported by the fund will be invited to participate in AIM Puerto Rico seminars.
"This program represents a great opportunity to strengthen the arts and culture ecosystem in Puerto Rico with high-level management tools to achieve stability and growth in the sector," said Inversión Cultural founder Javier Hernández Acosta, one of the local advisors supporting the initiative. "Our cultural organizations generate high-quality products and experiences. Now we will have the opportunity to support them in the managerial know-how to maximize its impact."
