Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton has announced a $6 million grant from the late Bernie Marcus and the Marcus Foundation to expand the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health.

The funding will support efforts to broaden services, enhance educational programs, and expand community wellness initiatives of the institute—which was launched in 2019 with a grant from the Marcus Foundation—to create a national model that demonstrates the effectiveness of comprehensive integrative health. Funding will support efforts to implement an expansion plan and provide additional services, such as diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasounds, intravenous sedation, tai chi, a functional movement specialist, and a nutrition coach.

While only recently announced, the most recent grant to FAU was made prior to Marcus's death in early November, and brings total contributions from the foundation for advancing integrative health to more than $10 million.

“Integrative health simply blends traditional medicine with common sense alternative solutions, and Bernie Marcus long believed it should be offered in today’s healthcare system,” said Marcus Foundation president Jay Kaiman. “This expansion will help more people who are seeking innovative solutions to their overall health and well-being.”
