Gardiner Foundation awards $8 million for Long Island historic sites

The Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation in Riverhead, New York, has announced its 2024 grants totaling $8,098,574 in support of nonprofit organizations and historic sites across Long Island.

Awarded in June and December, the grants will fund initiatives ranging from educational programs and exhibitions to publications, scholarships, and construction and renovation projects. Recipients include the Montauk Historical Society, the Sag Harbor History Museum, and the Whaling Museum & Education Center. In addition, 14 matching grants of up to $10,000 were awarded to the Conscience Point Shellfish Hatchery, the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum, and the Victor D’Amico Institute of Art. Detailed grant amounts were not disclosed.
