Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation awards $4.3 million in grants

The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation in Morristown, New Jersey, has announced grants totaling more than $4.3 million in support of the arts, education, informed communities, technical assistance, and efforts to address structural racism and inequity across the state.

The foundation's second round of grants in 2021 include $350,000 in funding awarded through its new Imagine a New Way program to organizations using strategic tools to tackle barriers to a just and equitable state. Recipients include the Newark Movement for Economic Equity, which will receive $200,000 over two years for the City of Newark's Guaranteed Income Pilot Program to provide cash to select residents in an effort to combat poverty and close the racial income gap; the Institute for Citizens & Scholars, which was awarded $100,000 to strengthen the American education system; and Make the Road New Jersey, which will receive $25,000 in support of efforts to build the power of immigrant, working-class, and Latinx communities and help them achieve dignity and respect through community organizing, policy innovation, and transformative education.

Additional recipients include Art Pride New Jersey, which was awarded $125,000 in general operating support; Educational Arts Team, which will receive $20,000 for the Middle School Theater Arts Social Emotional Learning and Literacy Program in Jersey City; Sustainable Jersey, which was awarded $300,000 in general operating support; and Young Audiences Arts & Learning, which will receive $180,000 for the Creativity Incubator and Creative Curriculum Institute and Creativity Consultant Project.

Dehne. "We are humbled and inspired by the networks, movements, and organizations [that] continue to meet community needs and build power so that our systems provide opportunities for people of all races and communities to thrive."
