Tom Golisano, philanthropist and founder of Paychex, Inc., has announced gifts totaling $85 million to 41 nonprofit organizations across southwest Florida.
Awarded through the Golisano Foundation, the unrestricted grants ranging from $150,000 to $10 million will support organizations focused on health care, education, disability services, animal welfare, and other community needs. Recipients include Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida ($10 million), Naples Comprehensive Health ($5 million), Ave Maria University ($10 million), and Guadalupe Center ($3 million). The gifts will be paid over four to five years and follow a September commitment of $360 million in gifts to 82 nonprofit organizations in Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse, New York.
“I’m glad to provide support to nonprofits across southwest Florida, where I now call home,” said Golisano. “There are so many organizations in this region doing great work, and I know that it’s not easy successfully running a nonprofit. I am impressed with the dedication and perseverance of the organizations that I’ve invited here today. I hope this unexpected funding helps them broaden their impact and strengthen their organizations so they can expand their services and those they serve.”
