Guelph General Hospital receives $4.16 million to expand health care

The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital in Guelph, Ontario, has announced a C$6 million ($4.16 million) commitment from Kim and Stu Lang’s Angel Gabriel Foundation in support of the hospital’s new medical center and an expansion of emergency mental health services.

The largest individual contribution in the history of the hospital includes C$5 million ($3.47 million) to complete construction of its community-based medical center—slated to open in December 2025—which will offer a variety of diagnostic imaging services, including a second MRI machine, added breast imaging, ultrasound, x-ray, and bone mineral density tests. The remaining C$1 million ($694,035) will support the expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Department, including the Angel Gabriel Foundation Centre for Mental Health and Addictions.

“It’s always our goal to help the most number of people, and to do the most good we can with what we have,” said Stu and Kim Lang in a joint statement. “Our foundation initially made a contribution to support mental health because so many people will benefit. When we learned about the hospital’s plans to go beyond its current walls and expand into the community, we saw how it would open up access to care significantly.”
