The Cleveland-based George Gund Foundation has announced grant awards of more than $7 million.

The awards include $195,000 to In Our Backyards in support of projects designed to improve quality of life and the regional environment; $1.1 million in continuing support of recently opened high schools in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District; and $300,000 over two years to the University Hospital Health Systems' Rainbow Center for Women and Children in support of a national study aimed at testing the efficacy of a perinatal counseling model.

Other recipients include Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, which was awarded $25,000 to create a plan for equitably transitioning the city to 100 percent renewable energy; Studio in a School Association, which will receive $100,000 over two years in support of its Arts Intern program; and the Rails to Trails Conservancy’s Industrial Heartland Trails Coalition, which will receive $300,000 over two years in support of its effort to convert abandoned rail corridors for public use.
