Gwynedd Mercy University receives $10 million for healthcare campus

Gwynedd Mercy University, in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania, has announced a $10 million gift from the Maguire Foundation to build a healthcare innovation campus.

The Frances M. Maguire Healthcare Innovation Campus, named in honor of alumnus Frances Maguire (’55), will include as its centerpiece a 65,000-square-foot building that will provide students in nursing and related healthcare fields—including public health, social work, occupational therapy, respiratory care, radiation therapy, radiologic technology, and psychology—with state-of-the art training facilities and opportunities for inter-professional collaboration to develop the skills they need to provide optimized patient care.

Since 2012, the Maguire Foundation has committed more than $20 million to the university in support of the Frances M. Maguire School of Nursing and Health Professions and university-wide scholarships.

“The Maguire Foundation has been a faithful supporter of Catholic higher education, and the Maguires have been steadfast and generous friends to Gwynedd Mercy University,” said Gwynedd Mercy University president Deanne D’Emilio. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue honoring the life and legacy of Frances M. Maguire with a state-of-the-art Healthcare Innovation Center and Campus dedicated to expanding our ability to provide the unique and distinctive Mercy preparation for tomorrow’s nurses and other healthcare professionals.”
