High Point Regional Hospital Receives $10 Million Gift

High Point Regional, part of the University of North Carolina Health Care system, has announced a $10 million gift from the Earl & Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation toward a renovation of its heart center.

Part of a comprehensive multiyear capital campaign launched in 2016, the gift will support the renovation, starting this spring,of the hospital's heart center cardiac catheterization labs. In recognition of the gift, HPR's heart center will be renamed in honor of the Congdon family.

"This is a very exciting time for High Point Regional, with major renovations occurring throughout the hospital, and we are extremely thankful for this very generous gift from the Congdon family," said High Point president and CEO Ernie Bovio. "The capital campaign will provide critical support to a $55 million [project] that will completely...renovate the third floor of the hospital, consolidating all of the cardiology services, cardiac cath labs, electro physiology labs, and diagnostic testing into our heart center....In our Hayworth Cancer Center, we are also developing a new urgent care clinic for cancer patients as well as acquiring new technology for radiation therapy treatments."
