The Waldron Mercy Academy, a private Catholic K-8 school in Merion, Pennsylvania, has announced a $5.2 million gift from the Howley Foundation in support of student scholarships and capital upgrades.

The foundation committed $2.4 million to redevelop the school’s design and innovation lab and early childhood education learning spaces. Over the next 10 years, $1.8 million will be directed to scholarships for students with financial need. In addition, the foundation pledged $1 million as a challenge grant toward the completion of HVAC improvements.

“This generous commitment will be instrumental in sustaining our Mercy mission and core values, which have united our community for 100 years,” said Waldron Mercy Academy board chair Joan Barone. “It will ensure that we continue to provide an environment that nurtures innovation and growth, and we are truly grateful to the Howley Foundation for their role in the bright future of Waldron Mercy Academy.”
