The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) has announced a $25 million gift from the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation in support of a broad array of initiatives at its College of Business Administration.

The largest gift in UTEP history will enable the university to expand on its position as a leader in teaching and research on trade and business between the United States and Mexico. To that end, the gift will create two distinguished chairs, a distinguished professorship, and several endowed fellowships and provide funding for academic, research, and professional development initiatives within the college of business. In addition, it will support the creation of scholarships and experiential learning opportunities for business school students.

In recognition of the gift, the school will be renamed after businessman Woody L. Hunt, a former member of the University of Texas board of regents. According to UTEP, the foundation has previously donated more than $12 million since 1987.

“This continues the Hunt family’s indelible legacy of thoughtful, strategic investment in the community they love,” said University of Texas system chancellor James B. Milliken. “The opportunities for generations of UTEP students and their families will be greatly enhanced because of this farsighted commitment.”
