Indiana University School of Medicine Receives $2.4 Million for Translational Research
The Indiana University School of Medicine has announced a three-year, $2.4 million grant from the Indianapolis-based Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation to support the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI).
Earlier this year, CTSI — a public-private collaborative designed to help translate basic scientific discoveries into new medical treatments and business opportunities — received a five-year, $25 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. The grant from the foundation will supplement the NIH award while strengthening CTSI's ability to implement programs swiftly.
"Creating the statewide institute generated energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to reform from the state biomedical research community," said Indiana CTSI director Anantha Shekhar. "This...grant will help us maintain that momentum as we help organize our partners to work together, learn from each other, and produce results that will help us all."
