Intermountain Healthcare Receives $20 Million for Medical Center

The Intermountain Foundation, the charitable arm of Intermountain Medical Center, has announced a $20 million gift from Kem Gardner toward construction of a new research and training facility on the medical center's campus in Murray, Utah.

To be staffed by healthcare leaders seeking to transform the way health care is provided in the United States and around the world, the 120,000-square-foot Intermountain Transformation Center will be home to the Intermountain Healthcare Leadership Institute, which will offer multi-day courses to senior-level healthcare physician leaders and administrators; the Intermountain Institute for Healthcare Delivery Research, which will train senior physician, nursing, and administrative executives in clinical management methods; and various clinical research and innovation programs. Construction of the facility, which will be named after Gardner, will get under way in 2017 and is expected to be completed in 2018.

A longtime board member, Gardner served as chair of the Intermountain board from 2007 to 2012 and currently chairs the board of the Intermountain Foundation.

"This is a remarkable and generous gift to the Intermountain Foundation by one of the great civic and business leaders in our community," said Intermountain Healthcare board chair Scott Anderson. "It recognizes the value of this center and how it can help positively transform health care not only here in Utah, but throughout the world."
