Irvine Foundation awards $14.6 million in grants
The James Irvine Foundation has announced seven grants totaling $14.6 million in support of four initiatives focused on working Californians.
Through its Better Careers initiative, the foundation awarded a 30-month grant of $2 million to the Foundation for California Community Colleges, which will work to create and expand inclusive, equitable, and accessible apprenticeship programs for Inland Empire residents facing barriers to opportunity. Through its Fair Work initiative, the foundation awarded a three-year, $1.6 million grant to the Maintenance Industry Labor-Management Cooperation Trust Fund in support of worker leadership and industry engagement initiatives as well as a three-year, $2.38 million grant to Mixteco Indigena Community Organizing Project.
Through its Just Prosperity initiative, the foundation awarded a two-year, $2 million grant to the Chinese Progressive Association and a two-year, $2.3 million $2.3 million to Community Partners. Capitol Impact Consulting, LLC also will receive $2.25 million for the grants associated with the 2023 Leadership Awards.
