Jensen Project awards $3.1 million to help human-trafficking survivors
The Jensen Project has announced grants totaling $3.1 million in support of efforts to end human trafficking and violence against women.
Seven grants were awarded to organizations working to address two barriers faced by survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation: a lack of safe housing options that provide a healing and therapeutic environment, and a lack of economic empowerment programs designed to help victims of trafficking create a sustainable financial future through dignified employment. The recipients are Annie Cannons (Walnut, California), Eden House (New Orleans, Louisiana), MISSSEY (Oakland, California), the Rebecca Bender Initiative (Grants Pass, Oregon), Reflection Ministries of Texas (Midland, Texas), REST (Seattle, Washington), and Rethreaded (Jacksonville, Florida).
"Through this process, we were exposed to countless organizations doing exceptional work," said Jensen Project founder Janet Jensen. "The seven that were selected as our GrantTank 2021 recipients rose to the top as innovative changemakers. We are excited for the opportunity to invest in them over the next few years, journey with them in creating change, and watch their impact grow."
