Jim Joseph Foundation Awards $3.6 Million to Support Jewish Learning Experiences
The Jim Joseph Foundation in San Francisco has announced grants totaling $3.6 million in support of Jewish educational programming.
The grants include nearly $1.5 million to George Washington University to help launch a graduate program that combines experiential education with a master of arts in museum education and Jewish cultural arts; $1.2 million over five years to the University of California, Berkeley in support of campus programs and the Institute for Jewish Law and Israeli Law, Economy, and Society; and $548,000 to the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies North America in support of the Pardes Educators Alumni Support Program, which provides a network, educational resources, and ongoing training to graduates of the Pardes Educators program. The foundation also awarded $250,000 over two years to the Institute of Southern Jewish Life in support of the institute's Education Fellowship program.
"Each grantee is helping to create a future that includes vibrant Jewish living and learning in communities across the country," said Jim Joseph Foundation president Al Levitt. "For this to become a reality, communities need dynamic educators and a range of effective Jewish learning opportunities. These institutions, through their efforts in a variety of educational settings, are true partners in our efforts to achieve these goals."
