John A. Hartford Foundation awards more than $5 million in grants

The John A. Hartford Foundation in New York City has announced grants totaling more than $5 million to improve care for older adults.

The funding will support efforts to promote comprehensive dementia care, support family caregivers, and develop leadership and advocacy to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse aging population.

Recipients include Education Development Center and University of California, Los Angeles, which was awarded $2.6 million over three years to support a partnership with Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging designed to ensure that people with dementia and their caregivers receive high-quality, evidence-based care; National Alliance for Caregiving, which will receive $1.8 million over three years in support of the next phase of its Act On RAISE Family Caregiving Advocacy Campaign; American Society on Aging, which was awarded $409,591 over three years for a fellowship program to strengthen an increasingly diverse aging sector; and Diverse Elders Coalition, which will receive $241,440 to expand the reach of the “Caring for Those Who Care” curriculum to a broader audience and provide long-term stability.
