John Carroll University Receives $15 Million for College of Business
John Carroll University, a private coeducational Jesuit university in suburban Cleveland, Ohio, has announced gifts totaling $15 million from the Boler Family Foundation and members of the business school's board to establish the John M. and Mary Jo Boler College of Business.
The lead gift in a $25 million fundraising campaign, the $10 million gift from the foundation will be used to transform the Boler School of Business — named for alumnus John Boler ('56) in recognition of a $10 million gift made in 1986 — into a college with the addition of two new schools: the School of Accountancy and Information Science and the School of Leadership and Social Innovation. Made in memory of Boler, who died in 2016, the gift also will establish an endowment for the dean's position. Several of the college's board members have pledged gifts totaling $5 million in support of the campaign.
"The Boler gift will make a tremendous difference for our students who are seeking to make a powerful impact in the world of business, benefiting from our focus on the role of business as a catalyst for solving the social, environmental, and technological challenges that we face in America and around the world," said the college's dean, Alan Miciak.
"We honor our father's legacy and commitment to John Carroll University by making this leadership challenge gift," said Matt Boler. "We challenge others to join us by investing in this innovative Jesuit business education for a changing world."
