JPMorgan Chase commits $1 million for service members, Afghans

JPMorgan Chase has announced a $1 million commitment in support of service members and veterans and to aid Afghan citizens.

The financial services firm has committed the funding to the International Rescue Committee, which will regrant funding through Blue Star Families, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America and the UK-based Combat Stress to assist with resettlement of Afghans and provide mental health care and other services for those in military and veterans communities who have been impacted by the conflict. In addition, the firm’s legal team will provide pro bono assistance to address Afghan relocation and immigration issues.

"We have continued to closely monitor the tragic situation in Afghanistan, including the recent terrorist attacks in Kabul and resulting loss of lives of service members, Afghans and civilian nationals from other countries, as well as the impact of evacuations across the globe," wrote Mark Elliott, global head of military and veterans affairs, Heather Higginbottom, co-head of global philanthropy, and Carol Lake, Co-head of global philanthropy in a blog post. "The violence, suffering, and violation of human rights are devastating, and their implications affect us all."
