JPMorgan Chase Pledges $2.5 Million to Detroit Nonprofits
To acknowledge the official rebranding of Bank One to JPMorgan Chase in Michigan, the financial-service giant has pledged more than $2.5 million to Detroit-based nonprofit groups and programs in 2006.
The financial services firm announced it will host a day of free activities in the city's Campus Martius Park to mark the official name change of 258 Bank One branches, completing the adoption of the Chase brand by more than 1,900 Bank One branches in seventeen states acquired by JPMorgan Chase in a 2004 merger. Chase also will demonstrate its commitment to youth education by sponsoring Detroit Science Center visits for 1,400 Detroit Public Schools students on April 24 and, in partnership with the Greening of Detroit, a nonprofit group, will kick off a new beautification project at Detroit's Burton International School, a public elementary school.
"While our name will change from Bank One to Chase, we haven't changed our commitment to Detroit and Michigan," said Dick Wade, president of Chase in Michigan, which is headquartered in Detroit. "As Chase, we will continue to support the citizens, businesses, government entities, and nonprofit groups in the communities we serve."
