Jupiter Medical Center Receives $5 Million for Cardiac Care Program
Jupiter Medical Center Foundation in Florida has announced a $5 million gift from retired Sprint Nextel executive Tim Donahue and his wife, Jayne, in support of the hospital's move toward open heart surgery attestation.
Made as part of the hospital's $300 million Vision — Innovation — Impact campaign, the gift will jump-start efforts to raise $10 million for the Timothy and Jayne Donahue Cardiac Surgery Program and enable the hospital to deliver the most advanced cardiac procedures for patients with heart and vascular disease. Since it established a clinical partnership with Mount Sinai Heart New York in 2015, the hospital has added two interventional cardiac catheterization labs and quadrupled the number of coronary interventions it performs. Last April, the hospital had achieved the eleven hundred procedural volumes required for open heart attestation by the State of Florida; the next step is becoming a Level II Cardiac Surgery Program.
"Jupiter Medical Center is focused on building a world-class cardiac program with the best physicians, surgeons, and technology," said Jupiter Medical Center Foundation president Liv Vesely. "Thanks to the generosity of the Donahues, we are thrilled to be able to invest even more in developing a robust cardiovascular program that includes open heart surgery."
