Kellogg Foundation Gives Nearly $1 Million to Women & Philanthropy
Washington, D.C.-based Women & Philanthropy has announced a three-year, $965,000 grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek, Michigan, for a program to provide leadership, educational opportunities, and new resources designed to increase effective funding by and for women, youth, and communities of color.
A leadership and advocacy network made up of more than six hundred grantmakers, Women & Philanthropy will use the grant to create new tools to educate and encourage philanthropy in support of women and girls; connect and cultivate the philanthropic leadership of women of color, leaders of new foundations, and women's funds; and launch communications that will increase the visibility of diverse leaders, best practices, and study findings that further the vision of this leadership. "Through this partnership with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Women & Philanthropy will lead the field of foundation and corporate giving to be more expansive and effective by investing in the power of gender and diversity," said the organization's president and CEO, Kimberly Otis.
"Unleashing new philanthropic resources among women, as well as among youth and communities of color, is a long-term interest of the Kellogg Foundation," said Christine Kwak, a foundation program director. "It's clear that the face of philanthropy is growing more diverse each day."
