Grants include $1.4 million in support of a collaborative effort between UW Medicine, Washington State University, and tribal communities focused on developing culturally appropriate solutions to reducing barriers to cancer detection and treatment and improve outcomes; $430,00 to Providence St. Vincent Medical Foundation to investigate the drivers of disparities in breast cancer screenings; and $1.5 million to Oregon Health & Science University to accelerate the development of low-cost blood biopsies and increase access to early cancer detection in underserved communities.
Additional awards include a grant of $250,000 to Northwest Housing Alternatives for the development of inclusive, affordable housing in Portland, and $850,000 to Horizon Project, Inc. to expand rural housing options in Hermiston and Pendleton.
