Leon, Toby Cooperman Give $25 Million to Boca Raton Regional

The Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation has announced a $25 million gift from Leon G. and Toby Cooperman.

The gift will help fund plans to reimagine the hospital campus, including construction of a freestanding building dedicated to outpatient surgery and specialty practices, construction of the Gloria Drummond Patient Tower, an expansion of the Marcus Neuroscience Institute and Christine E. Lynn Cardiovascular Institute, new operating rooms, and the creation of an all-private patient room environment. In recognition of the gift, the new Medical Arts Pavilion will be named for the Coopermans.

One of seven eight-figure gifts made in support of the hospital's $250 million capital campaign, the gift boosts the total raised to date to $152 million.

"We have referenced many times the Talmud, where it is proclaimed that a man's net worth is measured not by what he earns but rather what he gives away," said Leon Cooperman, founder and chair of Omega Advisors. "We are committed to give and to help others as best we can. The people of our community here in Boca Raton deserve the best possible healthcare available, and we are honored to join many others who have carefully considered the long-term vision and believe in a bright healthcare future here."
