Lilly Endowment Awards $10 Million to Indianapolis Children's Hospital
The Riley Children's Foundation has announced a $10 million grant from the Lilly Endowment to support the Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
The grant, the largest ever received by the organization, will provide core support for the hospital's comprehensive research programs, including $5 million for pediatric cancer and diabetes research. In addition, a portion of the grant will fund Molecular Medicine in Action, a program for high school students that seeks to spark their interest in scientific careers, as well as an M.D./Ph.D. training program that provides support for the next generation of physician-scientists working in the life sciences industry.
"Philanthropy is a vital component of successful pediatric medical research and educational programs," said Riley Hospital president and CEO Ora Pescovitz. "This gift allows us to continue advancing the excellent work underway at Riley Hospital in our quest to put Indiana at the forefront of pediatric research, educational, and clinical initiatives."
