Lilly Endowment awards $34 million to 8 human services organizations
The Lilly Endowment in Indianapolis has awarded grants totaling $34 million to eight human services organizations to help strengthen their long-term financial sustainability plans.
Grants ranging from $1 million to $7.5 million were awarded to help create endowments or building financial reserves, update technology and data use, bolster volunteer and staff recruitment training, and/or enhance marketing and fundraising campaigns. Grantees include organizations focused on LGBTQ youth, youth aging out of the foster care system, senior citizens, veterans, and individuals at risk of or suffering from HIV/AIDS: CICOA Aging & In-home Solutions ($5 million), Damien Center ($5 million), Dove Recovery House for Women ($2.5 million), Foster Success ($5 million), Indiana Youth Group ($1 million), Public Advocates in Community Re-entry (PACE) ($3 million), Volunteers of America Indiana ($7.5 million), and Workforce Inc. ($5 million).
“These grants are designed to help organizations build long-term financial strength so they can better weather unexpected funding challenges,” said Ronni Kloth, Lilly Endowment’s vice president for community development. “The grants are not intended to fund ongoing operating support, which organizations must have to meet the day-to-day needs of the people they serve. In fact, we hope these grants can inspire others to invest in the important work of these agencies.”
