Marquette University receives $3 million gift from Dwyane Wade
Marquette University has announced a $3 million gift from alumnus and NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade.
The gift will extend the Tragil Wade-Johnson Summer Reading Program, establish the Wade Scholars fund, and support a new men’s basketball practice facility in a future expansion of the Athletic and Human Performance Research Center. The summer reading program, launched in 2015 with funding from the Wade’s World Foundation, was named after Wade’s sister. The Wade Scholars fund will cover full scholarships that cover room and board for two students for their first two years on campus.
In recognition of Wade’s gift to the university’s athletic facilities project, the men’s basketball practice facility court will be named the Dwyane Wade Court.
“Marquette shaped me into the person I am today. It means a great deal to me and my family to be able to give back to take the university to the next level,” said Wade. “My hope is to continue to transform lives through higher education.”
