The Arbor Day Foundation has announced a $1 million gift from MathWorks in support of efforts in six states impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton.
The funding will bolster the foundation’s pledge to distribute and plant 10 million trees in the aftermath of the hurricanes. In addition to its hurricane recovery efforts, MathWorks also invested in forestry carbon credits in collaboration with the foundation’s Arbor Day Carbon subsidiary. The project focuses on restoring the Mississippi Alluvial Valley’s forest ecosystem, helping to improve local water quality, support wildlife habitat, and sequester carbon.
“MathWorks is embodying the bold leadership of an organization eager to use its resources to create positive change,” said Arbor Day Foundation CEO Dan Lambe. “Replanting trees in the wake of disaster is an effort bigger than all of us. And something bigger than all of us, takes all of us.”
