The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has announced the launch of Be Well Beaumont, a community health initiative, supported by a $10 million grant from ExxonMobil.
The program aims to promote wellness and lower cancer risk among community members in east Texas by providing them with cancer prevention education and tools. The 10-year effort will include programs aligned with daily practices for healthy living, including healthy eating, active living, sun safety, tobacco-free living, and preventative care.
“Cancer prevention is a cornerstone of our mission to end cancer,” said MD Anderson president Peter WT Pisters. “We are grateful for ExxonMobil’s continued support to implement life-changing programs in communities like Beaumont and Baytown, where we can directly impact cancer risk reduction and provide tangible differences for countless families.”
