Mellon Foundation Awards $2 Million to NYU Center for Ballet

New York University has announced a three-year, $2 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in support of its Center for Ballet and the Arts.

The grant, which boosts the foundation's support of the center to more than $6 million, will enable the international ballet institute to strengthen its ties to the NYU community while expanding programming such as the CBA Fellowship Program, which provides support to scholars from twelve countries and nearly fifty disciplines, including film, design, philosophy, and art history. The grant also will support CBA's fundraising efforts and public programming, which incorporates lectures, workshops, and conversations between artists and scholars.

"CBA has found substantial early success thanks to the generous support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation," said CBA founder and director Jennifer Homans. "We are tremendously grateful for their continued partnership in bringing vitality to the history, practice, and performance of dance."
