Miami Children's Health System Receives $60 Million Pledge
The Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation has announced a $60 million pledge to Miami Children's Health System in support of the health system’s acclaimed children’s hospital. The foundation was established in 2004 by golf legend Jack Nicklaus and his wife, Barbara, to help provide world-class health care to children in South Florida.
The gift will enable MCH to make several enhancements to the hospital, including the addition of a 212,000-square-foot pavilion that, when completed, will include three family-centered pediatric care units. The gift also will support emergency and trauma preparedness at the hospital and will be used to enhance the hospital’s heart program, cancer center, and brain institute.
In recognition of the gift, Miami Children's Hospital and its network of outpatient centers will be renamed Nicklaus Children's Hospital.
"Jack and Barbara Nicklaus — through their Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation — are exceptional philanthropists whose generosity is legendary," said Narendra Kini, president and CEO of Miami Children's Health System. "[This] announcement marks the cornerstone of a legacy that will have an enduring impact on children and families for generations to come, supporting the hospital in its mission as a world-class pediatric acute-care hospital."
