Missouri teacher leaves $1.7 million to support future educators
The Lindbergh Schools Foundation in Sappington, Missouri, has received a $1.7 million gift from the estate of Mary Louise Zieger, a former teacher and administrator, KSDK reports.
The bequest will support an annual $56,000, four-year scholarship, named after Zieger, for a Lindbergh High School senior pursuing a career in education. Recipients must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average and stay enrolled. According to KSDK, Zieger was described as a “quiet force” and her inheritance was dispersed to support organizations across the community.
“When she passed away, she left a third of her estate, which was $1.7 million, to the Lindbergh school foundation with very strict instructions that the interest earned every year is given to a student who is going to go into education,” said Lindbergh Schools Foundation executive director Erica Keating.
