The Nassau County Council on Aging (NCCA) has received a $4.9 million gift from Amelia Island, Florida resident Julie Wood, the Jacksonville Florida Times-Union reports.

The gift is the largest donation in the 50-year history of the organization and will expand “aging in place” and nutrition programs at NCCA’s two senior centers. In addition, the funds will help pay down a mortgage and establish an endowment—bolstered by matching funds—in support of future needs.

The gift was awarded through the Indiana-based Tom and Julie Wood Family Foundation, named for Wood and her late husband, an Indianapolis auto executive who died in 2010.

“Our mission to ensure seniors live happy, healthy lives is now strengthened by this incredibly generous gift from Julie Wood and her family foundation,” said NCCA president and CEO Janice Ancrum. “We are extremely grateful to Mrs. Wood and her family for helping our seniors receive critical services for aging in place.”
