Nationwide Children's Hospital receives $10 million from Nationwide

The Nationwide Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Nationwide Insurance, has announced a $10 million gift to Nationwide Children's Hospital in support of a variety of hospital and community programs, the Columbus Dispatch reports.

The gift includes $2 million in support of the hospital's Healthy Neighborhoods, Healthy Families initiative and to help expand affordable housing efforts in Columbus's Linden neighborhood. The remaining $8 million includes support for creating the Nationwide Foundation Endowed Chair in Pediatric Transplantation, with a focus on liver transplants; the Steve and Cindy Rasmussen Institute for Genomic Medicine; the children's mental health initiative On Our Sleeves; and to expand access to care, research, and preventative work within the hospital's behavioral health program.

With its latest gift, the foundation has contributed $130 million to Nationwide Children's Hospital since 2006, and the company has raised an additional $44 million through sports sponsorship partnerships.

"We all want central Ohio to be a community where individuals and families want to be — where they want to live their lives, have their careers, raise their families," said Nationwide Foundation president Chad Jester. "A cornerstone of that opportunity is the quality of life achieved through pediatric health care."
