NBA Foundation commits $11 million in grants to 40 organizations

The NBA Foundation has announced 40 grants totaling $11 million in support of organizations focused on creating employment opportunities, advancing careers, and driving greater economic empowerment for Black youth across the United States and Canada.

Established in 2020, the foundation has awarded 118 grants totaling more than $33 million. The latest awards include six grant renewals totaling more than $1 million in support of the Marcus Graham Project, Operation DREAM, TEAM Inc., the Knowledge House, and the Youth Empowerment Project, which were part of the foundation’s first year of grantmaking, as well as Boys Town Louisiana and Youth Empowerment Project, a pair of New Orleans-based nonprofit organizations.

“As we enter our second year of funding and surpass the $30 million initially provided by the NBA board of governors to establish the foundation, our work with national and local organizations that are driving economic opportunity for Black youth in the NBA’s 28 markets continues to strengthen and evolve,” said NBA Foundation executive director Greg Taylor. “We look forward to our growth in the year ahead and are excited to establish new relationships with nonprofits serving Black youth and to further collaborate with the organizations who have demonstrated their impact.”
