NCH Healthcare System receives $8 million for heart, stroke institute
The Naples Community Hospital Healthcare System in Florida has announced a gift of $8 million from Francis and Kathleen Rooney in support of the NCH Heart, Vascular, and Stroke Institute.
The institute is slated to open in 2025 on the NCH Healthcare System Downtown Baker campus. In recognition of the gift, NCH will name the Rooney Family Auditorium, a centralized area for medical conferences, speaking engagements, and community events within the new facility.
Francis Rooney is the former CEO of Rooney Holdings, a diversified group of companies including Manhattan Construction Company, which was founded in 1896. He also served as a member of Congress from 2017 to 2021 and as U.S. ambassador to the Holy See from 2005 to 2008.
“The clinical advancement at NCH is exceptional and we are proud to be part of this new era for our community hospital,” said Rooney. “This is an investment that will last many years into the future and will make a positive difference in the lives of tens of thousands of people. We are fortunate that Naples will soon be home to a top-tier cardiac center.”
