New York Public Library receives $15 million for adult learning center

The New York Public Library has announced a $15 million gift from Richard and Lynne Pasculano in support of a new adult learning center focused on technology training, career counseling, and ESOL classes.

To be located on the sixth floor of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library, the system's newly renovated central circulating branch on Fifth Avenue and 40th Street, the center will include classroom space, a media lab, a job search and career counseling area, collections dedicated to adult learning, and work stations designed to promote lifelong learning. In recognition of the gift, the center will be named the Pasculano Learning Center. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library building is expected to fully open in mid-May.

"The library's transformed central circulating library...will serve patrons of all ages, standing as a true testament to the importance of lifelong learning," said New York Public Library president Anthony W. Marx. "The branch's fabulous new Pasculano Learning Center, which will provide adults with the knowledge and tools that they need to open new doors of opportunity, is a key part of that, and we are so grateful to our longtime donors Richard and Lynne Pasculano for their support, vision, and generosity. The New York Public Library, celebrating its hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary in 2020, was built on a foundation of philanthropy, and this incredible leadership gift from the Pasculanos in support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library is yet another important chapter in that story."
