Michelle Obama, Melinda French Gates, and Amal Clooney are partnering to boost awareness of child marriage and help end the practice around the world.

The trio co-authored a piece in TIME magazine detailing three ways they and their organizations plan to make an impact. The first step includes empowering girls to take legal action and advocating for change in countries where child marriage is legal. The second step is supporting grassroots organizations, through the trio’s own respective organizations: the Girls Opportunity Alliance, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Clooney Foundation for Justice. The last step is promoting a pathway to education for girls.

“Our partnership is grounded in our belief in the value of every girl and a shared commitment to seeing girls everywhere reach their full potential. Child marriage is a barrier to the better, more equal world girls deserve,” the article notes. “That’s why our organizations—and our partners at Girls First Fund, Girls Not Brides, and VOW for Girls—are joining forces to help end the practice once and for all.”
