Open Society announces 2024 Leadership in Government Fellows
The Open Society Foundations has announced the 2024 cohort of its Leadership in Government Fellowship.
Established in 2016 to assist former senior-level government staff who have made significant contributions to advance social, economic, and racial justice, the program awards stipends ranging from $110,000 to $150,000 over 12 to 18 months.
The eighth cohort includes Brett Rosenberg, who will use narrative and humor writing to increase awareness and participation in foreign and national security policy; Emily Tulli, who will help build the capacity of organizations that aim to support immigrant workers enforce their rights under labor and employment laws without fear of retaliation; Eric Shaw, who aims to create a framework for the establishment of offices of philanthropic partnership in city governments; Helen Gym, who will develop models for narrative storytelling, while building the capacity of leaders and grassroot voices within the nation’s public school systems; Jahi Wise, who will identify interventions that can accelerate the mobilization of private and public capital into climate and clean technology projects; and Tariq Habash, who will develop guidelines for higher education institutions to protect academic independence and integrity, and to foster a more inclusive democracy.
“We are fortunate that these terrific fellows bring vast knowledge of a wide set of issues,” said Open Society Foundations managing director Laleh Ispahani. “We’re excited to work with them as they develop solutions to the deep inequities in cities and states across the country.”
