Overdeck Family Foundation announces $12 million in quarterly grants
The Overdeck Family Foundation has announced second-quarter grants totaling $12 million in support of efforts to unlock innovation, evidence, and growth in educational programming.
The foundation awarded nine new grants and twenty renewal grants in support of efforts to scale cost-effective programs that accelerate improvement in key academic and socio-emotional outcomes for all children. New grantees include Reach Out and Read, which integrates early relational health and literacy best practices into standard pediatric visits and will receive $250,000 to expand and improve infrastructure for measuring impact and fidelity. Imagine Science, which encourages local YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, 4-H, and Girls Inc. sites to provide STEM programming, was awarded $200,000 to expand from eleven sites to sixteen, while the Association of Science & Technology Centers will receive an eight-month pilot grant of $100,000 to help STEM museums expand and improve their digital strategies.
Additional grants include $1.9 million to PBS SoCal at the Public Media Group of Southern California to expand Family Math programming; $2 million over two years to BellXcel to deliver summer and afterschool programming to an increasingly diverse partner portfolio; $434,500 to Urban Teachers to expand support for novice teachers through content- and grade-specific professional learning; $3 million over three years to the Institute for Learning and Brain Sciences (I-LABS) at the University of Washington to support and disseminate groundbreaking research on early childhood brain development; and $700,000 over two years to Ed Trust in support of research and advocacy work.
