The Owen Locke Foundation has announced a $1 million grant to University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis to advance research on age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

The grant will be directed to the work of Monica Jablonski, the center’s vice chair and department of ophthalmology/Hamilton Eye Institute director of research Hamilton Endowed Professor. Her research is focused on delivering topical therapeutics through the cornea to the retina and developing innovative drugs for patients who are unserved by current treatments.

This is the foundation’s second grant in support of Jablonski’s research, which includes more than 10 years of engineering formulations for AMD and glaucoma.
