Pacific Life Insurance Gives $3 Million in Grants

The Pacific Life Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Pacific Life Insurance Company in Newport Beach, California, has announced grants totaling $3.3 million to nearly two hundred nonprofit organizations.

Most of the grants ranged from $5,000 to $10,000 and were made to Orange County nonprofit organizations; however, the largest, $1 million, was awarded to UNICEF for tsunami relief. In addition, the foundation awarded a $100,000 grant to Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County, a new pediatric dental center that serves the dental needs of uninsured children from low-income families.

"We really enjoy hosting our grantees at our home office," said Pacific Life Foundation president Robert G. Haskell, referring to the annual reception at which the grants were announced. "We have found that this event provides the agencies with a unique networking opportunity to learn what their peers are doing in the community. The atmosphere is very conducive to sharing common goals and practices."
