Packard Foundation awards $4 million to promote science, engineering
Science Is US in Washington, D.C., has announced a $4 million grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation to continue connecting the scientific and engineering communities with public policy makers.
The grant will be used to advocate for the inclusion of science and engineering in the development of public policy and to motivate elected officials on both sides of the aisle to increase their support for and use of science. With the latest commitment, the foundation has pledged nearly $10 million to Science Is US since 2018.
“Support from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation has been transformative for Science is US since the start of our work,” said Rachel Kerestes, the group’s executive director. “This latest grant will enable Science is US to build on our success to date, help to grow and scale our programs, and continue that momentum in partnership with allies around the country.”
