Peconic Bay Medical Center Receives $10 Million Gift
Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, New York, has announced a $10 million gift from PBMC Foundation board chair Emilie Corey and her husband, Michael.
The largest gift ever from an individual to the hospital — which became part of Northwell Health in 2016 — will fund efforts to improve access to critical and primary care services and enhance medical and surgical services. With the gift, PBMC has exceeded its $28 million capital campaign goal by $5 million. Construction already is under way on a $60 million trauma care tower expansion that will provide emergency room space, a cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology suite, and a new intensive care unit.
Longtime benefactors of the hospital, the Coreys were founding supporters of the hospital's Pegasus House Palliative Care unit in 2009.
"It is crucial for Peconic Bay Medical Center to be able to continue their important work here on Long Island's east end, saving the lives and providing state-of-the-art medical treatment each and every day in our community," said Corey. "This gift will ensure that the groundbreaking care, resources, and treatment which the hospital has earned a reputation for providing will continue both now and into the future."
