People in the News (11/27/16): Appointments and Promotions

The Frick Collection in New York City has named JOSEPH SHATOFF as its new deputy director and chief operating officer. Shatoff comes to the Frick from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where he managed the recent launch of the Met Breuer in a landmark Madison Avenue building that formerly housed the Whitney Museum. In addition to overseeing the planning and opening of the Met Breuer, Shatoff was responsible for leading the concept and architectural selection process for the redesign of the Met's southwest wing, managed its master planning process, and led the development of its twenty-year infrastructure modernization plan. Prior to working at the Met, Shatoff was associate director for administrative services at Yeshiva University.

The board of the Women's Sports Foundation has announced the appointment of DEBORAH ANTOINE as it next chief executive officer. Antoine has forty years of experience designing, developing, and implementing programs that improve the lives of underserved communities, adults, and youth and most recently served as president and chief executive officer of New York Junior Tennis & Learning, the nation's largest tennis and education program. She will succeed DEBORAH SLANER LARKIN, who is stepping down as the foundation's CEO on January 3, 2017.

In other news, the board of directors of the Community Foundation Santa Cruz County has announced that LANCE LINARES will step down as the foundation's CEO at the end of 2017 after what will be twenty-two years in that role. The foundation was founded in 1982, and Linares became only its second chief executive when he took over the reins in 1995. Under his leadership, the foundation grew its assets from $6 million to $108 million; launched and successfully completed a $9 million capital campaign for a new headquarters in Aptos; and became a national standard bearer in the community foundation field for accountability and transparency. Linares will remain in his leadership position until a successor is recruited by the board and she/he is in place.
