People in the News (12/04/11): Appointments and Promotions
The New York City-based Arcus Foundation has announced the appointment of CYNTHIA A. HALLENBECK as vice president of finance and operations, a new position. Hallenbeck, currently acting CFO and CAO at the Council for Economic Education as well as an independent director for the commercial real estate services firm Walker & Dunlop, earlier worked at both Citigroup and Merrill Lynch & Company. Among her affiliations is her ongoing role as board treasurer of the Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise.
The Baltimore-based Annie E. Casey Foundation has announced the appointment of RYAN CHAO as vice president of its Civic Sites and Community Change program. Chao, a nationally recognized community development leader, is currently executive director of Berkeley-based Satellite Housing. Earlier, he oversaw grants management at the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone and was a loan officer in the nonprofit, housing, and health care finance unit at Atlantic Bank of New York.
The Chicago-based Donors Forum has announced two promotions and two new hires. MARGO GRAY has been promoted from the position of member services manager to director of member relations. DELIA COLEMAN has been promoted from the position of manager of public policy communications and outreach to director of public policy. In addition, HILARY WARD has been hired as manager of development, a new position; most recently, she was director of development for the Chicago Urban League. And STEVE STRANG, who previously served as a training specialist at the University of Chicago, has been hired as nonprofit programs manager.
In other news, the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University in Indianapolis has announced the elections of civic leader and attorney DONALD W. BUTTREY, artist and business and community leader MARIANNE GLICK, and corporate and nonprofit executive JERRE L. STEAD to its board.
