People in the News (2/20/05): Appointments and Promotions
The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation in Washington, D.C., has named KATHLEEN HALLAHAN ZEIFANG, previously the foundation's senior program officer, as acting executive director. She replaces ANNE ALLEN, who is retiring after sixteen years at the helm of the foundation.
The Baltimore Community Foundation has named ANN MYERS as senior development officer. Myers previously was senior associate director of the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.
The Tides Foundation in San Francisco has named RANDALL MILLER as associate director of philanthropic services. Miller, formerly director of grant programs at the Vanguard Public Foundation, previously directed the Community Health Investment Fund at the Alameda Alliance for Health in San Leandro and was executive director of the National Task Force on AIDS Prevention.
New York City-based Public Agenda has named ANA MARIA ARUMI as senior vice president and director of research. Arumi, elections manager for NBC News, was previously deputy director of news surveys for CBS News, a managing partner at Visi�n Research in Austin and Los Angeles, and research manager of the University of Texas' office of survey research.
The Nature Conservancy in Little Rock, Arkansas, has named SUSAN LANCASTER as director of philanthropy and has elected GAY WHITE, MARK SIMMONS, and ELAINE DEMING to its board. Lancaster, formerly director of grants management at the University of Arkansas College of Education and Health Professions, serves on the boards of the Ozark Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Peace at Home Family Shelter. White, former First Lady of Arkansas, serves on the Women's Advisory for Delta Trust and Bank and is a member of the Governor's Mansion Association and the Arkansas Children's Hospital Auxiliary. Deming serves on the boards of the El Dorado Education Foundation, Bancorp South, and the South Arkansas Area Health Education Center. Simmons, board chair of Simmons Foods, Inc., serves on the boards of John Brown University and the Arkansas Aviation Technologies Center, and was formerly chair of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport Authority.
The Seawater Foundation in Tucson, Arizona, has named MARGARET MULLEN as executive director. Mullen, who founded and led the Downtown Phoenix Partnership, also served as president and CEO of the Downtown Raleigh Alliance in Virginia.
In other news, the Boston-based Free Software Foundation has named PETER BROWN as executive director. Brown, currently manager of the organization's general public compliance lab, was previously a director of the alternative press magazine New Internationalist.
