Nike co-founder Phil Knight’s foundation has awarded $212 million in 2022, The Oregonian reports.

According to tax statements obtained by the Oregonian, the Knight Foundation, which Knight runs with his wife, Penelope, holds $3.8 billion in assets, making it the largest philanthropic organization in the state. Among the notable gifts made by the foundation in 2022 was a $100 million donation to the University of Oregon as part of the foundation’s 2021 gift of $500 million, and $70 million to the Oregon Health and Science University Foundation.

While most of the Knight Foundation’s gifts in 2022 were fulfilments of previous pledges, smaller gifts to organizations across the country were included in the year’s giving. Although Knight is not a Giving Pledge signatory, he has stated he will give the majority of his fortune to charitable causes.
